Great Interview Questions: Interview Questions to Ask the Employer Regarding Company Culture Part 5 of 7

Now we go into the fifth question type of question you ask the employer when the tables are turned, and it is your chance to ask questions regarding company culture.

In this case of this type of interview question, you should ask this type of question to everyone one you interview with, human resources, hiring authority, future supervisor, peers and subordinates.

The benefit to asking this type of question of multiple people and at multiple levels is it will give you a richness and breadth of information that should give you a fairly solid perspective on what the true culture of the organization is at this point in time.

In my opinion, one of the most important results of gaining insight into the company’s culture is to confirm in your mind that they are ethical and that their company culture will not compromise your core values.

The following are some questions you could ask to help decide if this company is a good fit for you.

Question: How would you describe the overall culture and atmosphere in this organization?

Question: What type of training does your organization provide?

Question: Is there a tuition reimbursement program for ongoing education?

Question: Is there a mentoring program of any kind at ABC Company?

Question: Overall how would you describe the culture of ABC Company?

Question: Can you tell me what the average tenure of your employees is? (This question will best asked to the human resource executive)

These questions should give you an idea on what questions to ask for the type of question to ask regarding gathering information to confirm the whether this perspective company is a good fit or not for you personally and professionally.

I would caution also to remind you that the job market is still tight out there, so you need to make your decision on this relative to your individual current job situation. As the job market continues to open up in 2012, and then how you weigh your answers to these 7 types of interview questions to ask employers, will change. Just keep that in mind.

Next week I will guide you with the sixth type of interview question to ask employers.

Again I assume you are using common sense throughout your process of asking these questions. What I mean here is that you understand for each type you will only have time to ask one or two of the questions in each category. Be sensitive to the time of the interviewer.

Good luck with your interviews this week.

I believe in you!
